Liubo: The emotion creates music

Liubo is already without his group TE for couple of months now. For the time being he managed to record 2 singles. One of them was even broadcasted on MTV, which Liubo himself determines as a great success. Apart from all that, recently he started leading a Music TV SHOW on MSAT.
During our meeting, Liubo speaks with enthusiasm for his solo career and with pleasure leans towards existential questions and explains his stand point for the entire meaning of human life. He admits that he often speaks to God and that he is his most faithful advisor.
He dreams that people will soon get used to the fact that he is just Liubo.

What projects are you currently working on?
You “capture” me in the busiest moment, now I work on my second single and the video clip for it “You can speak informally to me”. It starts been broadcasted on TV MAD. The things around me run very dynamically now, so I try to be more efficient.
 

Was it difficult for you to take a decision to say Goodbye and stay alone?
I sing alone already half a year now and for sure I can` t claim that the process of taking this decision was easy for me. But I am like that – when I have already decided that it is time to seize doing something, I do not think a lot. As people say – I get up and do what I got to do. The last three years were quite a long chance that I gave to myself and to the group. At the end I just could not take it anymore, so I left. However, the boys still claim it has been unexpectedly and without any pre-notice.

Sounds a little bit like a romantic relationship...
Yes, exactly. It all seems fine and all of a sudden one of them leaves. Now I work on a whole new album. I am at the core of this project and my partners are Georgi Ianev and Milen Kokosharov from KAFFEE. As a whole this project has gathered us more or less because we all like one and the same kind of music – mixture between soul, dance and pop.

Who are guest-performers?
I still have just ideas as to who it might be at this stage. However, the organization and entire management is very complicated, as everyone has his own contracts and engagements.

Did somebody offer their own services and help?
More or less I am the one who is in a position to offer, because I am interested in making a duet with someone. As usual, I can mention the names of Beloslava and Maria Ilieva. I participated in all kinds of mutual co-productions and songs and now I wonder wouldn’t` t it be better if I start now with an album that accentuates mainly me: no duets, so it stays more focused. Generally I dream of a more special duet. 
 

With Alicia Keys for example?
Yes, exactly with a star from this rang. I am sure that if I really, really want this, it will happen. If I make a song like that, then I can die in peace and calm that I have done something meaningful in this life.
 
Now, when you are alone what prevails in your life – the responsibilities or the joy that you are free?
The responsibilities are as many as before. Moreover, in the group I have never been the one who tries to loaf about and wastes precious time. I have taken responsibilities there as well, despite the fact that somebody may not agree on that part. Currently the freedom prevails and dominates in me. The bad part, however, is that even if I want to divide the responsibilities in order to make it a little bit easier and to take a bit a fresh air, there is no one to do this with. I realize that I am totally alone, now I am responsible for everything.

Which sign are you?
I am sign Scorpion, 26th of October, exactly like Santra and Emil Koshlukov. We are people who are nor only born at the same date, but are a very good company when we are together.

Do you believe in signs?
Apparently there is some kind of dependency after people characters can be determined so well based astrological signs. But however I am not a fan of this. I believe in another philosophy – everyone is unique. Never before a man is born and after he dies can be another person to be the same like the previous one. In old times this may have sounded too philosophic, but now it can be proved even with the physic-logical DNK and finger prints for example, let alone the personality. Therefore it is good to listen to and follow your inner voice. You can not take an example by somebody else, or follow his way. That is why I always try to listen to my intuition and to be aware for what God tells me.

What does he say?
He advises me what to protect myself from, even what to eat. It may seem a bit crazy, but His voice is very interesting.  Nobody really knows him well, everyone calls him differently and imparts him various shapes and conditions. I think that his voice is excessively unobtrusive and hardly audible. In order to feel where it is guiding you to, you need to permanently direct yourself towards it, to seek for it, even to forget your own human searches and to deny yourself and your desires. We, people, can sometimes be very stubborn and avoid listening to what is right. However, God gives everyone right to a personal choice – to be good or not, to sing this or that – with or without heart. And this personal choice is what determines us as personalities. God gives you the ability to listen to his voice only when you really want to and you are ready for this step. As people say – never stop dreaming. But the dream is just a human illusion. It is a desire, sent in the endless nothing, if God did not existed and mainly – if we do not believe in God.


You can work alone for your dreams
I believe that there is somebody who orders your life the way that certain situations happen to you. And who else have the power to do so?

The man himself.
No, if it was like that, I person would be able to choose not to die, and for now there is not any such case. There is someone else who has the opportunity and ability to give life, to take it away and to pre-arrange it. The only think that is expected from man on earth is to really want to make his dreams come true and to be filled with positive energy.  In other words, to make some tries which bring you closer to your dream. You can not just sit on your sofa in front of the TV, watching the music channels and whining: “I can do better than him, but I don’t wanna become famous”.


Are you famous?
I can not claim that I am famous. I know that a lot of people recognize me when I walk on the streets. Half of them like me, and the other half – not.  I think that I am famous for the ones who care and are interested in what is happening in the Bulgarian music. If a person is not interested in me, there is no way he can know me. Probably not everyone knows the best curling player in Bulgaria and he is a star in this professional field.


Musicians are not quite the same as curling players.
We know each other from the media and the social events, but there is also a chance that the people have never heard about you and this is not something you should be ashamed of. I try to show the essence of what I am working on. The real artist does not create art to be or become famous, this is cursory. To be a star means to do something better than others. For example I sing better than the children in two kinder gardens. Recently some famous persons claim on the tv that there aren’t` t stars in Bulgaria. Why not? When somebody is making something better than most people, this automatically puts him into the Stars category. Every day I receive hundreds of emails by children who have heard my music and it has inspired them to devote to the music too. This is the big meaning of the art.  I do not believe the artists who claim they are making the songs for themselves. Every singer dreams to be not in front of 20, but in front of thousands of people. When you have barely said the first word of a title of a song, the stadium “answers” you. This gives meaning to your life and to you as a person.

There are singers who prefer the club stage.
The club stage is still a stage. And the close contact with the public is still a contact; these are just different types of atmosphere. The artist is there again in order to appear in front of his fans. He does not have right to hide himself, because he has received a gift from god, which if he does not share with others, he would be the biggest selfish. After all the music should touch gentle strings in people` s soul and make them feel from the bottom of their heart. The point is to make somebody cry, to make him happy, to heal him from the accumulated hatred for life. The nice music makes us fall in love, remember and associate the song with one of the most pleasurable moments in our lives; it draws us out of a depression or sad mood. But the music has to affect us with emotion. Even if you have the greatest voice, but you don’t allow the music to breathe, you don’t sing better than a child who does not know the music notes.

What is the role of the texts?
I did not imagine that I can write song texts. When you sing in a group, the first think is to start doing some thinks on your own. Text writing actually worked and I definitely do not look at myself as a poet. However it is not necessary the song texts to be like poetry. I did write some very nice thinks for other people as well. Sometimes I even think that I gave the better texts to my colleagues.

Which is your favorite text from those you have written?
Tony` s – “As before”. When I write for other people, some of the concerns I usually have are eliminated. Otherwise, I start thinking whether it will suite me to say this or that, can I sing it etc. when I was writing that text, I estimated what clothes would fit her best, I was thinking in a producer manner. I have also written nice thinks for myself too. It turns out that my favorite songs are the one that haven’t become famous.

What inspires you?
Life.

Do you write your most beautiful songs when you are sad?
No, it depends mostly on the song. My first solo single is a little bit unsteady, while the second one is more focused, although in both of them I sing for love.


Is it difficult to sing for something else, except love?
No, it is not difficult.

Why everybody sings about love?
This is the strongest emotion. A weaker emotion is to be sleepy for example, that is why and there aren’t so many songs, devoted to this topic.

Hatred is another similar topic?
Yes, there are so many songs devoted to hatred as well. It is your own choice whether to be a lover or a hater.


Can you imagine yourself in a more aggressive role?
I can imagine myself, but I won’t like myself and I won’t be persuasive enough. When you start singing such a song, you need to be very angry and I usually try not to waste my energy in being furious. I try to be good with others, so the good deeds can come back to me. I can not stand it if somebody does not treat me with good attitude; I am very emotional and I outlive the negative experience very hard. I do not understand people who say about somebody “He is very dumb”, without even knowing him. The Bulgarian still percept the musicians with a certain amount of prejudice; plus he still believes in the saying “a Musician can not feed a family”.  Whenever I have been introduced as a famous singer in all the foreign countries I have visited, I feel the respect of the public. It would be great if when the songs for food and other material pleasures are over, that Bulgarians pay attention to the other type of music as well, to try to find out whether before I have sang or written something, there hasn’t been someone else who has did it before. This is how they would understand that I have read 1 or 2 books, perhaps.

Do you have a typical styling? What can you say about it?

I do not know what my styling is. A person does not need a lot of taste for the simple purpose of dressing. I have chosen my clothes almost every time. The point is while you dress, to stop thinking of the clothes. You need to feel comfortable and not have to watch and introspect yourself all the time.
